Aluminium & Induction Cookware: A B2B Buyer's Guide

Papilla aluminium cookware

If you source cookware for wholesale, retail or private-label programs, three decisions shape most of the range: the base metal, the coating, and induction compatibility. Here is how a manufacturer thinks about each.

Why aluminium is the base of most modern cookware

Aluminium conducts heat quickly and evenly, which means fewer hot spots and better cooking results at a far lower weight than stainless steel or cast iron. At Papilla we build from 99.5% pure aluminium, formed either by pressing (for everyday lines) or forging (for thicker, more durable bodies). The purity and thickness of the disc — not just the coating — determine how a pan performs and how long it lasts.

The interior coating: non-stick (PTFE)

The interior coating is where most buyers differentiate their range. Papilla uses a PTFE non-stick interior — a smooth surface with excellent food release that is easy to clean and cost-efficient across promotional and mid-tier ranges. For a deeper look, see non-stick coatings explained.

What actually makes cookware "induction-compatible"

Plain aluminium is not magnetic, so it will not heat on an induction hob on its own. Induction-ready aluminium cookware uses a ferromagnetic base — bonded or encapsulated into the bottom of the pan. We cover this in detail in what makes cookware induction-compatible. Papilla's induction lines (for example the Motto and the "Plus" series) are built specifically for this.

Don't overlook the base and the finish

A rectified (machined) base sits flat and stable on the hob and transfers heat evenly; a special stamped base can add rigidity. These details drive real-world performance and returns rates — worth specifying, not assuming.
